Bayfair - sparing a thought for the Tauranga SPCA
During the September 2010 school holidays, Bayfair Shopping Centre invited children to embrace their animal and artistic flair by entering an art competition in support of SPCA Tauranga.
Children who visited the Bayfair Art Station, located outside Farmers on weekdays from Monday 27 September to Friday 8 October collected a free pack of 12 Faber-Castell Smart Crayons, paper and animal illustrations from which to based their own drawing. With three competitive age groups and a fantastic prize pack for the winner of each, the art competition really got those budding artists busy.
For every competition entry received, Bayfair Shopping Centre donated 50 cents to SPCA Tauranga, generating over $1,000 in funds for this tremendous cause. Pet food bins and cash collection buckets were also available for shopper donations.
In addition to the Bayfair Art Station, children learned tips about caring for their own animals from SPCA Tauranga Education Officer Nicolle Smith a very special SPCA dog called Sammie.
