Keep your winter warmers
“As you shed those winter layers and welcome some much-needed warmth, don’t discard those winter basics that could carry you into the spring months. Spring fashion is about pairing heavy textiles with lighter, softer fabrics. For example, a trench coat can be effortlessly styled with denim, a staple t-shirt, and white sneakers or loafers. Meanwhile, an oversized knit jumper can be paired with light, silky dresses, and skirts.”
“Spring weather can be unpredictable, so style your pieces ready for that sudden change in weather. Remember if you’re too hot, you can always tie your knitted jumper or denim jacket around your waist or shoulders as an added stylish accessory.”
Give your wardrobe some sole
“You don’t necessarily throw your winter shoes into the back of your wardrobe for next year. If you have a winter boot with a bit of a heel, don’t be afraid to pair these with a floaty pair of pants or a silky dress or skirt.
That said, if you’re going to invest in one new pair of shoes for spring, make it some trusty white sneakers! These translate from season to season, and are so versatile — working with everything from a flowy skirt to a pair of jeans.
If you’re looking to change it up, try some white, lace-up brogues. These textured white loafers feature a snakeskin texture and are an edgier take on the white sneaker. Light-coloured, patterned sneakers are a great option, too — think, fresh floral prints or daisies.”
Inject some colour
“One of the best ways to transition your wardrobe for the warmer months is to add some pops of colour. In spring, it’s all about the pastels. Think, sherbet-inspired colours like soft yellows, greens, lavenders, and pinks. These are refreshing, inspiring, and joyful hues that are perfect for this time of year. Baby blue is also a great option, as it perfectly complements some of your white, base pieces to create a clean and crisp look.
We’re only in spring for a few months before we really start to amp the volume in colour with brighter tones for summer. In saying that, if you do end up purchasing pastel colours in spring there is absolutely no reason why you can’t transition these pieces into your summer wardrobe and pair them with bright colours.”
Add your accessories
“Accessories are one of the best ways to give some of your winter essentials a makeover for spring. They’re also an inexpensive way to change up your look, without having to invest in a whole new wardrobe every season. Some of my favourites for spring are silk scarves, turbans, and headbands. Not only do they look pretty, but they’re perfect for taming your hair on those windy spring days. Other great spring accessories include rectangular sunglasses, hoop earrings, and floral printer sneakers.”
With these transitional styling tips at the ready, you can head into the new season with confidence and spring in your step.
