Accessible Route

Bayfair Shopping Centre is well lit, spacious and wide. The accessible route has a minimum width of 1200mm and access to all facilitates and services are within the accessible route. Lighting levels offer good visibility and viewing and any permanent fixed objects are detectable by people using canes.

The food court has a set table area that can become busy and congested during peak times during school holidays and key retail periods. All centre entrances have automatic opening doors and wheelchair access.

Customer Service

Bayfair Customer Service Team, are located at the Customer Service Desk near the front entry between Whitcoulls and Rodney Wayne and are happy to assist with any access requirements you may have. Getting Out Safely

Bayfair Shopping Centre has a robust evacuation plan, all emergency exits are accessible and hazard free. There are audible fire alerting devices as well as signs for hearing needs designed to use in washrooms and for those that require additional assistance. An evacuation chair is available should it be required. All of the Bayfair team and its stores are fully committed to these procedures and are actively involved.

Lifts

Automatic lifts provide access to all floor levels within the car parking building.
Farmers is Bayfair’s only store on two levels, there is a customer lift available inside their store.

Mobility Parking

At Bayfair, there is allocated mobility parking in all car parks including the first three levels of the car parking building, with wheelchair access ramps where required. Mobility parking spaces are available to vehicles with a valid disability card for four hours, and are generally the closest proximity to the entrances.  There is dedicated parking available for side or rear mounted wheelchair hoist vehicles in our front car park outside ANZ Bank.

On the ground floor of our car parking building, where the car parking assistance lights are used, available mobility parks are lit using a blue light, when occupied this will change to red . These sheltered parks are located close to the ground floor centre entry to the right of the ‘up’ ramp.

  • On the second and third level of our car parking building there are a number of sheltered mobility parks directly next to the entrance on each level. Access to the ground floor of Bayfair Shopping Centre is via the customer lift located directly inside the door to the right.
  • In the front car park of Bayfair, on the corner of Maunganui and Girven Road there are two allocated mobility parking areas, the majority of accessible car parks are found at the front of the centre, directly in front of ANZ Bank. There is additional mobility parking in front of The Coffee Club. Outside the ANZ bank there is parking for side or rear mounted wheelchair hoist vehicles.
  • The back car park off Farm Street has allocated mobility parking in the front parking row, closest to the entrance.

Parent Parking

Dedicated Parent Parking is available in all car parks including the first three levels of the car parking building, these spaces are available to those requiring easy access with parking, especially those with young children and prams. There is a time limit in all of our car parks of four hours.
 

  • On the ground floor of our car parking building, these parks are located in the row directly in front of The NZ Post Shop/Kiwibank and Westpac with quick and easy access to Bayfair Shopping Centre.
  • On the second and third level of our car parking building there are a number of Parent Parking spaces directly next to the entrance on each level and on the third level, next to the Farmers entrance. Access to the ground floor of Bayfair is via the customer lift located directly inside the door to the right.
  • In the front car park of Bayfair, on the corner of Maunganui and Girven Road Parent Parking is available at the front of the centre in front of The Coffee Club.
  • The back car park, off Farm Street there is allocated parent parking directly in front of the 10minute parking zone.

Mobility Scooter Charging

Bayfair Shopping Centre offers its customers free mobility scooter charging.  

There are two mobility scooter charging stations which can be found near the entry from the under cover car park building next to Pumpkin Patch. You can plug in your scooter and pick up one of our free-for-customer-use Mobility Shopping Scooters from our Customer Service Desk. If you have any difficulty reaching the Customer Service Desk please contact them on (07) 575 9349 and they can arrange one to be brought right to you.

Simply plug in your scooter and hit the green button to charge.

Parents Room

Bayfair Shopping Centre offers a Parent's Room which can be accessed from a corridor located next to McDonalds. This is equipped with private feeding rooms, a play area, TV, changing station, children's toilet and microwave. The alternative toilet block at Bayfair, which is down the corridor located next to Farmers you will find a private changing station.

Washroom Facilities And Accessible Toilets

Bayfair has two separate facility blocks and each have options available to the access customer, one facility block can be accessed from the corridor in the food court located next to McDonalds another is down the corridor between Farmers and Rodd & Gunn. Each of these facilities have single sex bathrooms as well as an all-gender accessible toilet.

The all gender bathroom adjacent to the food court has an accessible push button access system. The all gender bathroom alongside the Farmers corridor has a standard lock.

Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters

Complimentary Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters are available for use from our Customer Service Team, located by our front entry by The ANZ Bank between Whitcoulls and Rodney Wayne. These are available during Bayfair Shopping Centre Customer Service Hours. Monday – Wednesday and Saturday, 9am – 6pm; Thursday and Friday 9am – 9pm and Sundays 9am – 5pm.
