Greywater and Rainwater Harvesting

Since 2014, Bayfair has re-used 1.8million litres of water - Saving 30% of the centres drinkable water!
We collected 487,600 litres of grey water from hand washing and 1,315,410 litres of rain water.
This water is recycled to flush our toilets.

Bayfair's Grey Water & Rain Water Harvesting System is a New Zealand shopping centre first. This innovative system is designed to reduce our water consumption and the impact on our pristine local environment. The system can collect 20,000 litres of rain water and diverts grey water (hand washing waste water) from the bathrooms, which is then mixed and treated in a series of tanks. This water is then used to flush the centres toilets.

We continue to lead the way in implementing sustainable solutions - We're proud to be green.
